Weddings are an incredible and memorable opportunity for friends and families to come together, even if they live in different states or countries altogether. Not everyone you invite can make it to your special day but being strategic with your invites can ensure that most of your invitees will be able to attend.
Some people may forget or misremember the deadline for responding to your invite. RSVP reminders are a way to nudge the invitees who still have not answered your invitation. There are several ways you can word your RSVP reminder that get your point across without being too overbearing or rude.
Below are 12 samples, as well as five templates, for RSVP reminders that you can use as you draft your own. Afterward, RSVP reminder etiquette is also discussed.
Crafting the Perfect RSVP Reminder
Organizing any event, be it a grand wedding or an intimate birthday party, hinges on the number of attendees. While we anticipate our guests’ prompt responses, there are times the hustle and bustle of daily life might cause them to overlook an RSVP deadline. This is when a gentle reminder, whether through text or email, becomes essential.
When it comes to sending that perfect RSVP reminder message, the tone matters. It should be polite yet underscore the importance of a timely response. From weddings and birthdays to formal corporate events, every occasion demands its unique touch. For instance, a wedding might require a heartfelt RSVP reminder wording, while a corporate event might lean towards a more direct reminder to RSVP email.
But no matter the occasion, the essence remains the same: a courteous nudge for your guests to let you know of their plans. Below, we’ve curated a list of samples ranging from RSVP reminder texts to emails, covering various occasions, to help you craft that perfect reminder.

9. We just finalized our wedding menu with the best caterers in town! They serve the best pasta and seafood in all of Michigan (second only to our moms, of course!) With that said, we know not everyone can eat those because of allergies, dietary restrictions, or other personal reasons. There’s a handy form in the RSVP card that you can use to let us know about food restrictions or preferences. Please RSVP on or before November 7 so we can inform our caterer and make sure everyone has the best experience on our special day!

RSVP Reminder Templates
There are plenty of ways you can send a reminder to your guests about RSVPing to your special day. Which one you should go with depends on a few factors, such as the urgency with which you need their response and the tone you want to use. Below are a few templates you can follow as you draft your reminder.
1. Reminder about upcoming RSVP deadline
Hello, everyone! We can’t put into words just how excited we are about our wedding on (the date of your wedding)! One of the things we’re excited about the most is having all our family and friends with us on such an important day.
We’re sending this (email/message/notification) as a reminder about RSVPing; you have the option to do so through our wedding website at (link to your wedding website), by replying to this email, or mailing the response card to us. For more information, please visit the FAQ page of our wedding website!
See you in (time left before your wedding ceremony)!
(You and your partner’s name)
2. Inquiry About Their Meal Preferences
Hi, (invitee’s name)! I hope you’re doing well today. I reached out just to ask about your and (invitee’s plus one’s name)’s meal preferences. Attached herewith is a copy of our menu — please let us know by (deadline for RSVPs) what meals you want to have, and if there are any dietary restrictions you want us to know! Thank you so much and have a nice day!
3. RSVP Deadline Has Already Passed
Dear (invitee’s name),
We are so thrilled that our wedding is in (time left before your wedding ceremony)! We’re so excited to have everyone we adore and treasure bear witness to our promise of eternal love and commitment.
This message serves as a friendly reminder that the RSVP deadline was on (date of the deadline). No worries — we know that life gets in the way sometimes! But we do need to know if you will be attending as soon as possible, as we need to finalize the headcount for our vendors.
You can RSVP through our wedding website at (link to the website), or you can send us a message at (phone number) or an email at (email address) to confirm your attendance.
All the love,
(Your and your partner’s name)
4. Casual Message
Hey there, (invitee’s name)! How’s it going? Hubby and I noticed that you haven’t RSVPed to our wedding yet. Do you have any questions or concerns you want to raise before you can confirm your attendance? Feel free to send a message or an email, and we’ll get to it as soon as possible! We would really love to have your presence on our special day.
5. Blame it on the Vendor
Hello, (invitee’s name)!
Kingsley and I just wanted to confirm that you received an invitation to our wedding — we don’t know how it happened, but some guests apparently didn’t! Anyway, please let us know if you will be able to come to our wedding and if you will be bringing a plus one. Our caterer is asking for a final headcount by (RSVP deadline), so do let us know by then! Feel free to give me a call or send me an email. Thanks!

6. Reminder about RSVPing for Limited Guests
Hi, (invitee’s name)!
We can’t wait to have you with us on our special day; we have lots of exciting things planned! We would also like to remind you that we can only accommodate a limited number of guests for our wedding. After all, we really want it to be a small and intimate ceremony!
With that said, you are allowed to bring a plus one to the ceremony and reception. There is space allotted on the RSVP, which you can submit on or before September 1, 2021, for the plus one’s name and meal preferences.
Thank you very much, and feel free to reach out anytime if you have questions or concerns!
Lots of love,
Benedict and Ellie
RSVP Reminder Etiquette
When Is the Right Time to Send Reminders?
Usually, wedding invitations are distributed to invitees around six months before the day of your wedding. This means that, approximately, you will start receiving RSVPs two to three months before your wedding. The RSVP deadline typically falls within that range of time.
You may want to send a gentle reminder to all your invitees a week before the RSVP deadline. This gives them time to deliberate on whether or not they can attend and then send the RSVP card.
Once the RSVP deadline passes, you may want to wait for another week before sending another reminder. Some of your invitees may have simply misremembered the deadline or other personal circumstances may have prevented them from responding on that specific day.
What Is the Proper Way of Reaching out?
Depending on whose RSVP you want to follow up on, the best way to reach out varies. It might be best to ask your family and close friends in person, especially if you see each other daily. For friends and relatives that you do not interact with frequently, you can give them a call, send a message, or write an email.
You can also utilize social media platforms. However, make sure not to single out those who have not yet responded. This may embarrass them and further deter them from RSVPing.
If you need their response as quickly as possible, a phone call is the best way to go. You can do this yourself or assign a member of the bridal party to do so.
Be Patient and Polite
No matter how frustrating it may be to still have incomplete RSVPs a week or so after the deadline, you must keep the frustration at bay as you follow up. Do not be sassy, passive-aggressive, or rude when you communicate with them; not only is this counterproductive, but you may also end up damaging your relationship with them in the long run.
Plan for Unexpected Guests
Despite not hearing from some guests, you may still want to “include” them in the headcount. Though unlikely, they may decide at the very last minute to attend your wedding. Likewise, some guests may bring a plus one that was not originally accounted for. In both cases, having a contingency plan will save you from having a headache on your special day.
